SLS South Beach – A Luxury Miami Hotel Review
Style, Luxury, Service could very well be the phrase that forms the ‘SLS’ initials of the SLS South Beach Hotel. I checked into the lux Miami art deco hotel by invitation to experience the extent the resort indulges their guests.
My high floor room, beautifully furnished with smart contemporary French furniture of silver chrome and white leather designed by Philippe Starck, absolutely met my expectations for a four-star hotel.
It also gave me great satisfaction to note the tall and firm King-sized bed covered in all white with a thick duvet, Egyptian cotton sheets and a pile of comfy pillows.
What I did not anticipate was the ‘Premier Ocean View’ above the room-length white leather chaise with a laptop stand. Nor the crystal platter I found on top with a collection of bite-size French pastry desserts and a note welcoming me to the SLS South Beach. This, however, was not the only unexpected perk to come.
The next would be a brand new SLS guest amenity, -a surprise visit from a Bazaar by José Andrés mixologist. He arrived, with a knock at my door, rolling a bar cart into my room to prepare a complimentary Liquid Nitrogen-frozen Caipirinha, complete with smoky fan-fare.
The slushy citrus cocktail is made with 5 Brazilian Cachaça, fresh Lime and Sugar frozen by using Liquid Nitrogen, then, garnished with edible Marigold Petals.
I was fortunate to be one of SLS South Beach’s first guests to receive this special in-room service, dubbed #SipLiquorSlowly. After a day of traveling, I really appreciated this cold and refreshing version of Brazil’s national cocktail, which fabulously kicked off my vacation stay.
Along with beach access, SLS South Beach’s other amenities include an 8,000-square-foot pool area, and an open kitchen/restaurant serving two master chef-run eateries, –THE BAZAAR by José Andrés with Latin cuisine, and, KATSUYA for Japanese sushi. Plus, a cafe terrace, an indoor and an outdoor bar. The daily resort fee includes WiFi throughout, two signature pink and white beach chairs, and fitness-center access.
