Remote Miami – Live Art Experience in Downtown Miami

Remote Miami  – Live Art Experience in Downtown Miami

Remote Miami is an exhilarating and entertaining live art experience that combines the elements of theatre, performance, guided tour, computer games and quest. The multi-sensory experience starts out as a walking adventure guided by the voice of an artificial intelligence (AI) source, but evolves into an intriguing social experiment.

Remote Miami is an edition of the Remote X series, and is produced by Rimini Protokoll and Questalive production companies. The Remote X series is a collection of interactive, pedestrian-based live art play experiences that have taken place in New York, Paris, Berlin, São Paulo, Moscow, and now Miami. The Rimini Protokoll production company was founded in Germany by award-winning playwrights and stage directors Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi, and Daniel Wetzel.

On a Saturday afternoon, I met a group of other Remote Miami participants at the City Cemetery in Downtown Miami. We donned noise-cancelling headphones attached to a clip on receiver, and each of us allowed the voice of our virtual assistant to direct us on a two-hour journey with an unknown purpose or destination.

The computer-generated AI escort who shepherded the group was at times provoking, humorous, and seemingly, had supernatural powers.

Although I have provided photos taken along the way, I will decline to describe any further details of this amazing interactive adventure as it is best understood from first-hand knowledge. Plus, each Remote Miami experience is unique since it is dependent on the individuality of the participants.
