Primo’s Donuts, located in Westwood LA, has been serving up donuts to more than satisfied customers for almost 60 years. 60 years! What makes a donut so good that it can stand the test of time? Ralph Primo will proudly tell you top of the line ingredients, fresh products, affordable treats, and loyal customers.
Walk by Primo’s Donuts, and I dare you not to step inside to buy the doughy goodness. It smells just as good as it tastes. With a wide variety of flavors and the best origin story I’ve ever heard, Primo’s Donuts will make you feel right at home from the moment you step inside.
In 1956, Ralph Primo’s parents were driving around Los Angeles, looking to buy a house. Three-year-old Ralph could not stop crying in the back seat, so his dad stopped briefly to buy him a donut. When he returned to the car with the bag of donuts, Primo told his wife, Celia, they had just bought the shop. And now, a month shy of 60 years later, they haven’t looked back.
Their list of flavors includes buttermilks, cinnamon butterflies, and chocolate-covered raised and hand-rolled glazed twists. My personal favorite is the Maple Log.
I stopped in on Friday June 3rd, also known as National Donut Day. I warmly greeted by welcoming faces, and I honestly felt lucky to be able to celebrate such a big donut day with them. You would be silly not to make your way to Primo’s Donuts as soon as you can. I know I’ll be back really soon!
