Plant Food Wine Miami – Mesmerizing Vegan Experience

Plant Food Wine Miami – Mesmerizing Vegan Experience

Interior Shots & Cheesecake by Adrian Mueller

If going vegan is this tasty I’m ready to convert today. Plant Food Wine is a serene ode to our palates and souls, cuz it makes them sing in glee. The Edgewater setting is modern sublime, with a chill alternative rock soundtrack, comfy pink cushioned patio chairs and light tan wooden tables. The Sacred Space is surrounded by trees and water and all the plates were mini works of art. Bravo to The Sacred Space owner Karla Dascal and designer Rene Gonzalez for an exquisite and inviting decor.

There is a special energy at Plant Food Wine, possibly a mix of the patrons and workers love for our planet. This place is also extremely affordable for a high end restaurant, with the most expensive dish topping out at only $22!

The restaurant is quite unique with 85% of the menu raw and no ovens in the kitchen. Definitely take the tour and you will be astounded by how pristine the kitchen is. I have toured many restaurant kitchens and this was easily the cleanest I have ever witnessed by a far measure. They also offer cooking courses on site, which I hope to experience one day. Izzy was our sweet, astute, attentive waiter that made flawless menu recommendations.

Start with the vegan Cheese Board to open up your palate. I adore cheese and rarely find a vegan alternative that stands up and Plant succeeds triumphantly. Their cheeses are made from cashew and macadamia and are quite rich. Every iota of the plate was scrumptious, from the fennel crackers, all 3 cheeses, pickles, mustard seeds and strawberries.  My faves were the White Truffle & Smoked Cheddar concoctions.

The Kimchi Dumplings with Coriander & Ginger Foam are innovative with a silky, juicy and sultry consistency. The ginger and coriander entwine beautifully together.

The Bahn Mi Lettuce Wraps with Smoked Chili-Almond Pate, Napa Cabbag, Red Pepper and Pickled Daikon were insanely refreshing. The Napa cabbage was crisp with a lovely texture. There were multiple layers of flavor that folded exquisitely into each other. The lime tahini on its own wasn’t stellar but complimented the wraps perfectly.

You think there can be an amaze vegan pasta? I was hesitant until I experienced the Cacio E Pepe – Kelp Noodles, Watercress, Green Olive Pureé & Sundried Olives. This faux pasta is cream city and eerily similar to real pasta with a nice lil kick at the end. My dining guest said he’d take a bath in it if he could.

The Banana Leaf Tamale with Sweet Corn, Shiitake Mushroom, Cacao Mole & Aji Amarillo was the most filling dish we had with one of the best mole sauces north of Mexico. We enjoyed all 3 stellar sauces and the spice.

The Zucchini Lasagna – Heirloom Tomato, Spicy Marinara, Basil-Mint Pesto & Macadamia Ricotta is like the opposite of lasagna – light, cold & fresh. The beautiful marinara sauce and layers of veggie goodies makes this dish another superstar.

The final glorious cherry atop this magnificent feast was the gorgeous Strawberry Hibiscus Cheesecake – Lime Curd, Vanilla Shortbread, Pistachio & Sorrel. The cheesecake is magnificent with a seductively addictive cream and chewy pistachio crust. The radiant purple is adorned with candied pistachios.  Pair it with an upgraded Cortadito with cashew milk.

The entire Plant Food Wine experience was stellar. The cuisine is fresh, refreshing, innovative and very tasty. The setting pulsates with a feel good vibe in a very comfortable and resplendent sacred space. The host, servers and managers were beyond sweet and accommodating. This is the spot to take your friends who do not yet understand how marvelous vegan cuisine can be. I know I shall be back to experience the rest of the menu I missed.
