Michael’s Genuine Miami Spice 2016

Michaels Genuine Miami Spice 2016

We sampled two of Chef Michael Schwart’s flagship restaurants in Miami for the upcoming 2016 Miami Spice season. Michaels Genuine Miami Spice once again proved to deliver a solid Miami Spice menu.  Michaels Genuine Food & Drink, will offer Spice Dinner including a choice of 3 courses for $39 Monday through Thursday and Sunday. Spice Dinner will also be available Tuesday through Friday and Sunday at Cypress Tavern, his American Grill & Cocktail Bar. Pricing is not inclusive of tax and gratuity, and menus will change regularly throughout the two months to fully embrace the program the genuine way.

Cypress Tavern

The Michael Schwarts restaurant Miami Spice preview started off at Cypress Tavern with a Pineapple Pisco Sour. The pineapple pisco sour was an interesting take on pisco sours which I really enjoyed. This drink is on the sweeter side, more of the girly type, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The drink includes Pisco Waqar, lime, pineapple, and egg white.

A highlight of the Cypress Tavern Miami Spice menu is the Cypress Burger. The meat is juicy, bursting with flavor. The quality of the meat is excellent and the addition of jasper hill landaff cheese and caramelized onions seals the deal.

Though beer pairs beautifully with burgers, I got to try some Red Wine which was fantastic. My recommendation is to try the full bodied Syrah Blend, Lua Rossa no. 3 Santa Maria Valley, California.

Michaels Genuine

We started off our Michael’s Genuine Miami Spice dinner with Beef Tongue a la plancha which came with whipped potato and salsa verde. Beef tongue doesn’t scream sexy but at the same time this appetizer option on the 2016 Miami Spice menu really caught my attention. I definitely recommend to start off adventurous with your Miami Spice dinner at Michael’s Genuine with the Beef tongue. The tongue is seasoned well and cooked to a tender bite. It does not taste “tongue-ey” at all.

For cocktails the Cucumber Gin Cooler is a nice option if you like some heat in your cocktails. The Gin Cooler comes with Beefeater Gin, cucumber, cilantro, chili, and lime. You get freshness from the cucumber, cilantro, and lime and a nice spicy kick from the chili.

The Wood Roasted Florida Shrimp is another recommended appetizer at Michael’s Genuine. If you can’t stomach the thought of eating beef tongue, the Florida shrimp is a safe option. The shrimp come with shaved fennel, citrus, and basil. I recommend you indulge by getting a bit of shaved fennel and some citrus with every bite of shrimp in order to fully appreciate the chef’s intent behind the dish.

The Black Truffle Pizza is being offered as a supplemental addition to the regular Miami Spice menu. It comes with  taleggio, caramelized onions, thyme. My absolutely favorite Miami Spice menu item of the night was the pizza at Michael’s Genuine. The crust was thin but chewy, with a perfect blend of taleggio cheese, herbs, and the uncanny aroma of truffle! Michaels genuine Miami spice is worth checking out.
