Wine Lovers United at the 11th Annual LAWineFest 2016 Review

11th Annual LAWineFest 2016 Review

By Samantha Dockser

This past weekend, Hollywood celebrated the 11th Annual LAWineFest. Wine lovers sipped, explored and enjoyed as they came together to taste wines from 11 countries, as well as every wine-producing region of California. There were also a selection of samples from Southern California’s craft breweries, gourmet bites, and artisan goodies. In spite of the summer sun, this two-day event was packed.

While it might not be wine, my favorite taste of the event was Stella Artois’ Cidre. Not too sweet, but crisp, delicious and cool, this cidre hit the spot. And it was served in adorable chalices, which event goers could take home as a memento of the LAWineFest.

I also loved tasting Saucy Lips handcrafted gourmet sauces. While they go great with seafood, they can also make incredible salad dressings. My vegan friend, who couldn’t taste the cheeses at the LAWineFest, was even able to down these spoons of sauce.

The event was also lined with food trucks, like Cousins Maine Lobster featured on Shark Tank, and the La Brea Bakery passed out baguettes to soak up all the wine. LAWineFest also distributed water bottles and encouraged using Lyft to ensure safety above all else at their day of wine.

In a special corner, there was a boutique wine section in which select attendees could sample and purchase selected wines. Over all, the event was boozy and delightful. Crowds of happy drinkers wandered around and found shelter in the shaded King Barrel Lounge, where they could watch the live music.

For a lightweight like myself, LAWineFest was a perfect way to sample lots of flavors while still staying sober enough to drive home that night. Looking forward to next year’s event!
