Hollywood is the city of dreams, many come to fruition, but the majority has to fight for recognition. With competition at the highest it’s ever been in the restaurant industry, one has to have a concept that separates it from the rest of the bunch. How does one stand out? The easiest way is to make seriously flavorful food that is fresh, healthy and affordable. This is where the Good Greek Grill comes into the picture.

There are some seriously astonishing aromas coming from the inspired and unique Good Greek Grill in Hollywood, and for good reason. The folks at my new favorite joint to grab some fresh Greek fare use generations old recipes for many of their dishes, including homemade salad dressing, marinades, tzatziki and they cut fresh produce multiple times daily.

The emphasis is on real, authentic Greek food with simple traditional ingredients. Good Greek Grill only uses 15 ingredients in all their dishes. Sometimes simple is better, that this is true in this case. Their goal is to take us on a culinary journey through the streets of Greece via your taste buds.

Good Greek Grill Dolmas

The journey began with the very well known and commonly eaten appetizer known as Dolmas, or stuffed Grape Leaves. Stuffed with rice, onions and herbs, the Dolmas are sour, salty and rich; a great way to start a Greek meal.

The Good Greek Grill offers 5 different protein and veggie options to choose from, including Pork on the Spit, Beef Lamb Mix, Greek Sausage, Chicken Skewers and Grilled Veggies. The Good Greek Grill has something special going on with the Pork on the Spit. Traditionally, gyro on the spit uses the Lamb-Beef mixture. Trying to stand out from the crowd, the Good Greek Grill uses pork and the result is remarkable.

Good Greek Grill Pork Gyro

The Pork Gyro is a true gem and the item that will put the Good Greek Grill on the map. The gyro is served with tomato, red onion, tzatziki sauce and fries inside; just the way you will receive it on the streets of Greece. The pork was rendered down perfectly on the spit, and combined its heavenly flavor with the outstanding tzatziki. This is truly next level!

Good Greek Grill Zeus Fries

Our next item also has quite the buzz behind it. Good Greek Grill’s Zeus Fries are a site to behold. Composed of Greek Fries topped with tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, red onion, tomato, parsley and herbs, we decided to go with the lamb-beef mix to top it off. The combination of flavors savory and incredibly agreeable. These Zeus Fries are addicting and will result in many repeat visits.

Good Greek Grill Spanikopita

We followed with the Spanakopita Bites, one of two Bites known on the menu as G3 Bites. Spanakopita is a traditional Greek appetizer of fried puff pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese. Indeed, the pasty was fried to perfection and the filling of spinach and feta provided a powerful flavor that was palate pleasing.

Good Greek Grill Cherry Preserves Parfait with Granola

For dessert, the Good Greek Grill concocted a freshly prepared Cherry preserve parfait with Granola. The tartness of the Greek yogurt blended precisely with the sweetness of the Cherry preserves. The granola added the right amount of texture to truly gain pleasure from this Greek adventure.

For those fortunate to live in the Hollywood or Los Feliz neighborhoods, there is reason to rejoice. The Good Greek Grill has arrived and is here to help cure your raging hunger. The Hollywood location is even open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s the perfect post-clubbing late-night meal. One thing is for certain, I will be frequenting this amazing Greek joint anytime I need to scratch that particular flavor itch.
