End-Of-Summer Festivals You Don’t Want To Miss!

End-Of-Summer Festivals You Don’t Want To Miss!

By Lauren Johnson

For die-hard music festival fans, summer is synonymous with festival season. Sadly, August is also synonymous with the end of many a person’s favorite time of year – summer! Fortunately, this year New Yorkers have a KILLER reason to perk up and embrace the months ahead, because instead of the end of summer and all of its associated outdoor fun, the music festival gods have bestowed upon us a slew of wonderful festival that will keep us in our dancing shoes and rave gear until early October. And by that time, we’ll be ready to embrace fall and all its basic-ness, including the ever-ubiquitous pumpkin-spiced latte.

Check out our list of the best end-of-summer festivals that you most definitely want to be a part of.

Electric Zoo (August 31-September 2)

Come join your fellow rave babies as famed electronic dance music festival, Electric Zoo, takes over Randall’s Island once more – this time for its 10-year anniversary party, The Big 10! The lineup this year is pretty spectacular, featuring a star-studded roster that includes the likes of Marshmello, Tiesto, Alesso, 3lau, Mar+in Garrix, and Kaskade.

With insanely tricked-out stages and some of the best food and drink vendors that New York City has to offer on site, this summer festival and fan favorite will be sure to get the electricity running through your veins. OctFest (September 8-9)

After an insanely successful first year, Pitchfork teams up with October to once again bring us OctFest, an incredible music, food, and beer experience. While many summer festivals focus solely on the music and food aspects, OctFest brings a unique element by emphasizing a myriad of craft beer tastings. It’s hard to tell what is more impressive with OctFest – the incredible lineup, which includes the likes of headliners Vince Staples and The Flaming Lips, or the fact that over 90 (yeah – NINETY) breweries from around the world will be on site at Governor’s Island pairing your favorite beers with new and interesting foods (such as Mission Chinese Food, Roberta’s Pizza, and OddFellows Ice Cream). And the best part? Single-day ticket holders will receive 15 absolutely FREE 3 oz. samples from their favorite vendors, while those holding weekend passes will receive 30. Summer festivals don’t get any better than that.

Sea.Hear.Now Festival (September 29-30)

For those looking to escape from the noise of the city, head over to idyllic Asbury Park, New Jersey – reminiscent of simpler, more nostalgic times – for this year’s unique Sea.Hear.Now Festival. If OctFest brings an interesting element with its insane amount of hoppin’ breweries (see what I did there?), then Sea.Hear.Now Festival is the California surfer-dude equivalent of unique summer festivals. Headlined by Jack Johnson and Incubus, Sea.Hear.Now is not only a music, food, and drink festival, but also a surfer’s haven. That’s right, you heard me – Sea.Hear.Now will feature live surfer expression sessions with pro surfersboard shaping demos, and more. Click here to purchase your tickets!

If summer festivals have to end, then at least this year they’ll go out with a bang. Be sure to check out these three festivals before the end of summer so you can tide yourself over until 2019’s summer festivals season.
