The Diplomat Resort Hotel – The Perfect Location To Bring In The New Year

For me, 2017 was the year of adventure, growth, and having fun. From my elephant encounters in Thailand, to the music festivals all over the United States, I decided that 2018 should be a calm year of settling down and practicing self-love.

What other way to bring in a new year than a relaxing staycation?

Cue the Diplomat Beach Resort over in Hollywood, FL. The whole resort went under a $100 million dollar enhancement in 2014, and I could see exactly where every penny went.

With its flawless location, bright contemporary rooms, and views of the Atlantic Ocean, I found the perfect location to regain clarity and put a fresh perspective on my goals and New Year resolutions.

Pro-tip: Check-in right on time or about 2 hours after check-in time. (The fact that the resort was at full capacity for New Year’s Eve should give you a little insight on how perfect this location was).

My first stop of the weekend was the all white party on Saturday December 30, 2017, held at their beer and wine garden called Portico. The Portico Beer and Wine Garden has great views of the intercostal, and hosted live music, which made for an amazing ambiance across from the hotel. The staff is very attentive and helpful, and the food was SOOOO good.

I started off with their delicious traditional bruschetta and Rosé Sangria. There was a great selection of beer and wine, but the Rosé Sangria was my absolute favorite drink of the night; Listel Rosé, elderflower liqueur, orange and pineapple was mixed to create this perfect glass of true love.

Pizza is life, and I was in the mood to try something that I typically don’t find at the restaurants that I visit. I decided to go for the Smoked Prosciutto Pizza, which was topped with fresh arugula, tomato, and parmesan. The flavor was amazingly zesty and bold, and I truly enjoyed every bite of that pizza; the toppings paired so effortlessly!!

Eggplant parmigiana was a close second place from the pizza! The dish included fried eggplant, tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, and parmesan, and tasted so similarly to my grandmothers recipe! (SO YUMMY).

The next day, I had dinner at The Point Royal, located inside the Diplomat Resort Hotel. It was so hard to pick what I wanted to eat because everything sounded so tasty. I ended up ordering the West Coast Oysters, Roasted Maine Diver Scallops (which came with baby turnips, fennel herbs, and smoked fish chowder), Pomegranate Glazed Short Rib (that was topped with watercress & heirloom carrot salad, and Swank Farms pickled veggies), and a side of Crawfish Mac & Cheese. My choices were mouthwatering good:

And for dessert I opted for my server’s recommendations of their rich chocolate pudding and custard soufflé cake:

The hotel lobby was transformed into an energetic space for a wholesome start to the New Year. There was live music, drinks were flowing, and high energy all through the night —even after the ball dropped. I called it a night after the party, excited to wake up (without a hangover) for my 10am facial in the spa + wellness center.

I opted for a “Balance” facial. This was a 50 minute facial that gave me a personalized deep-cleaning, exfoliation, and instant glow! I waltzed over to the relaxation room afterwords to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view, and used this time to reflect on my past year, and plans to slay 2018.

At the end of my stay at The Diplomat, all I could think was, “WHY haven’t I thought about staying here before?!”. The whole experience set the perfect tone to the New Year; and I could not wait to tell you guys about this resort! Whether you’re looking to book a nice hotel stay, or just experience their exquisite dining, the Diplomat Beach Resort should be on your list of places to check out in 2018!

The Diplomat Resort Hotel is located at 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida, 33019
