Corsair Kitchen & Bar–New Social Hour at Turnberry Isle Miami
CORSAIR Kitchen & Bar, located at Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, launched its daily Social Hour from 4:30PM – 6:30PM on Cinco de Mayo, (Thursday, 5/5), and I was invited to sample the bar’s specialty drinks.
As soon as you turn into the unassuming entrance of Turnberry Isle Miami, a smoothing atmosphere washes over you as approach the Mediterranean-styled portico of the 300-arced North Miami retreat.
Walking through the resort’s main entrance and outdoors past the tiered water fountain by the tranquil pool area, I entered into the quiet elegance of the CORSAIR kitchen & bar. Inside, CORSAIR continues the resort’s warm neutral interior design and laid-back vibe. Outside, its Mediterranean-style outdoor terrace overlooks the resort’s famous 18th hole “Island Green” and 64-foot waterfall.
Although the happy hour is available every day of the week, you will receive extra perks on Thursdays, such as drink specials and complimentary bar bites from the kitchen’s new chef, Gordon Maybury.
On my preview visit, in honor of Cinco de Mayo, I enjoyed complimentary Avión Tequila Shaker Cocktails, such as the smooth Avión Elevated Margarita, (2 parts Avión Silver, 1 part Fresh Lime Juice, and ½ part Agave Nectar) and scrumptious Rock Shrimp Soft Tacos.
Starting first from CORSAIR’s specialty drink menu, I ordered the Mint Smash, -a refreshing Mojito made with Hendrick’s Gin, easy on the sugar, and plenty of slapped fresh Mint.
Arriving shortly afterwards, compliments of the kitchen, came a bowl of freshly Smashed Avocados accompanied by a separate platter of tortilla chips. The Guacamole was prepared with the right amount of seasoning and lemon juice that allowed the luscious buttery flavor of the Avocados shine through.
The next cocktail I tried was CORSAIR’s signature drink, Pineapple Spice –Avión Silver, Pineapple, and to heat it up, Jalapeno; then garnished with a dash of Black Pepper and fresh Florida Blueberries. This delicious drink, made with ingredients I love, speaks to my sweet and spicy cocktail palate.
As if I needed an excuse to return to this welcoming establishment, with its proximity to the Aventura Mall, I can easily see myself returning to continue the relaxed, pampered sensation after a receiving Caudalie facial treatment. (Tip: There is a Turnberry Isle shuttle that runs between the mall and resort.)
The Social Hour bar menu offers light comfort food, such as Wild Mushroom Flatbread with Goat Cheese and Pickled Onions dressed with Truffle Oil and fresh Arugula, as well as draft beers and wines by the glass.
