Coffee Coffee – Hollywood’s Hidden, Highly Caffeinated Gem

Walking on the streets of Hollywood, be sure to keep your head up and eyes peeled. Otherwise, you might miss the hidden, eclectic coffee shop, simply named Coffee Coffee. Pedestrians can wander in off the street and will immediately find themselves surrounded by Wes Lang artwork portraits of musicians, RAD furniture and above all else, abundant coffee.

Owned and operated by Jay Shapiro, Coffee Coffee’s menu highlights Shapiro’s wide knowledge of all things cafinated. In 2009 Shapiro worked closely with Justin and Jerad Morrison of Sightglass to build the original Sightglass Roastery & Café in San Francisco. Falling for the process of which coffee is roasted, grinded, tasted, selected, imported and enjoyed, Jay trained extensively with the duo to become his own credited expert. Wanting to serve Sightglass to consumers in Los Angeles, through a non-corporate, approachable, real aesthetic, Shapiro opened his own Los Angeles export, Coffee Coffee, in 2015.

The menu features hot and iced beverages like Espressos, Americans, Macchiatos, Flat Whites, Cappuccinos, Lattes, Mochas, Drip Teas and Cold Brews. The menu also includes the “Special,” an espresso, with almond milk and cold brew ice cubes. It also includes the “Similar,” Jay’s son’s creation, with 8 oz cup of half cold milk, half almond milk and one ice cube.

Additionally, Coffee Coffee serves assorted pastries with occasional breakfasts and pop-up collaborations from Calabama Southern Catering. The chocolate croissant is amazing. Be sure to ask for it heated it. Fair warning, if you are anything like me, you will get melted chocolate all over your face. Extra napkins are a must.

With an eclectic patio, Coffee Coffee is the perfect place to sit, collect yourself, and relax in the middle of busy Hollywood. And who knows? You might even have your own celebrity sighting. I was lucky enough to have my own last time I stopped by 😉
