The smoldering summer sun inspired my drink selections during my Saturday night visit. So I decided to start with a cider. Jack’s Hard Cider was refreshingly crisp cooling me off enough to unwind. After a few more sips, an appetizer was in order. Being a bit of a southern belle, I always gravitate toward anything cheesy. The Pimento Cheese Spread with toast was extraordinarily good. Smoked paprika enhanced each bite with a big burst of spice.

Suddenly, I could sense the bartender’s presence as she asked me if I wanted a refill. I decided to try something new. I’ve recently discovered single, double, and triple abbey ales. Their smooth nature, free of the bitter after taste, always leaves me wanting more. Ommegang Abbey Ale, was well balanced and had a pleasant bouquet of roses on the nose.

When your appetite begs for more of the good stuff, then it’s time to enjoy what Brookland Pint does best- BURGERS! Please keep in mind, I powered through a yoga class earlier in the day, and my system was on empty. It seemed like a great time to take on two burgers – the Pint and the Bistro. Savory blue cheese crumbles and crispy applewood glazed bacon topped off the delectable Pint Burger. The combination of flavors seemed to twirl on my tongue. So rich, so tangy, so naturally I wondered how I could possibly eat any more. Playing well with my appetizer, the Bistro Burger topped with spicy pimento cheese and a fried green tomato, was comfort food on a bun. Pickled zucchini garnished the dish and added a refreshing component to the plate.
