New Club – Ora Finally Shines

Miami Beach nightlife is ripe for a nightlife revival, and ORA is bringing glamour back, with its luxe décor, impeccable service and multi million-dollar design. With an all-star team of nightlife veterans, helmed by hospitality tastemakers Ryan Van Milligen, Dana Dwyer, Yani Kontos, and Greg See. ORA will deliver on the promise of elevating the nightclub experience where thoughtful touches, tableside mixology, and old-world service and appeal.

It’s only appropriate that ORA is launching in time for Art Basel, with its artistic décor created and executed by world-renowned French designer Francois Frossard. For ORA, Frossard, whose most recent masterpiece was the redesign of iconic club Queen Paris, has produced a lavish and dramatic interior, featuring a cathedral ceiling, classic boiserie paneling throughout, marble bars, sleek and sexy banquettes and state-of-the-art lighting fixtures. Adding to the cultural conversation, guests will dance alongside works of art by Banksy and Murakami.

ORA also has bragging rights for its mixology program, which will be uniquely offered both tableside and at the bar. Veteran mixologist Rodger Gillespie was hired to reinvent the staid “bottle service” standard of routine mixers. Instead, assigned mixologists will work with clients to create specialty cocktails with a variety of ingredients directly at the table. Sipping a perfectly shaken martini in high style is now a reality. In the upstairs Anti-Social room, cocktailing will reign supreme with an innovative menu and personalized cocktails, including a “chronological flight” of martinis that features four mini martinis in their most popular formulations spanning from the late nineteenth century to today.

Free Art!

While notable, high-end art fairs roll into Miami for Art Basel, Super 8® will host an exhibit enticing gallery-goers to snatch a piece of art – for free. Once an overlooked decoration at its hotels across North America, Super 8 is taking its art “off the wall” to make way for the brand’s contemporary redesign, already available at nearly 60% of hotels. Nearly 100 eclectic pieces of “not-so-super” art will be free for the taking, on a first-come, first-serve basis, at When The Art Comes Down: Works from The Super 8 Collection Miami Edition.

The Miami event will feature a “certified Bob Ross instructor” who will guide attendees on how to paint like Bob as a way of celebrating him and this kitschy category of art, helping give Bob a much-deserved Basel moment of his own. Also, each of the Super 8 works on display will be named using Bob’s catch phrases as further tribute.

Together Super 8 and Bob Ross remind us that art isn’t just for the chosen few – it’s for everyone. Hoity-toity art? No thanks. If you like art with “charm,” then this event is right for you. Super 8 hopes Miami’s art fair community will share in the enthusiasm of the collection, appreciate its “value” and join in celebrating the kindred connection to Bob Ross.

Epic Pool Party-

Guy Gerber has always favored the road less traveled. The Israeli DJ thrives on confounding expectations and Art Basel Miami seems like an appropriate setting to get weird while “Art” lovers frolic, twirl and dance in the pool. 1 Hotel hosts a beautifully serene rooftop pool that should be wild for this famous Rumors Pool Party.
