Robert’s Pizza Company – “Za Dough” Gets the Limelight in an Iconic Pizza Town

Robert’s Pizza Company is the newest restaurant in the Streeterville neighborhood to hit the food scene. It is such a great place to go on a casual date or an evening out with friends. They serve handcrafted thin-crust, artisanal pies with fresh and unique ingredients. They have 13 varieties of pizzas, or you can build your own pizza. Plus, there’s a wonderful selection of wines and cocktails.

Robert and Dana Garvey are New York Natives. After moving to Chicago, Robert became obsessed with making the perfect pizza (it took them 20 years to create the perfect crust recipe). They now call this secret recipe “Za Dough.”

We started with appetizers of Olives, Burrata Cheese with Pesto and Roasted Vine Tomatoes and their Artisanal Meatballs. The Burrata was so creamy, and the pesto and tomato was a great pairing with the cheese. Then, we had the Seasonal Apple and Hazelnut Salad: Bib Lettuce, Apples, Celery, toasted Hazelnuts, Pecorino and Apple Cider Vinaigrette Dressing. We also had the Roasted Beet and Baby Kale Salad: Roasted Beets, Goat Cheese, Pickled Red Onions, Candied Walnuts and Champagne Vinaigrette Dressing. The Seasonal Apple and Hazelnut Salad was a great salad for a spring day, since every bite was full of crispy goodness.  The Roasted Beet and Baby Kale Salad was also great and flavorful- the Candied Walnuts being my favorite part.

There are tons of options to try at Robert’s Pizza Company, but my top three picks were the Fennel Sausage and Slow Roasted Caramelized Onion Pizza – an easy classic, Brussels Sprout and Applewood Smoked Bacon Pizza – because bacon goes well on everything, and the Huevos Rancheros Pizza (pizza for Brunch? Yes, please!)

As a Chicago native, I may have been a little skeptical of a New Yorker thinking they could just start making pizza in a city dripping with pizza reputation, but with the right ingredient combinations and a thoroughly thought out pizza crust recipe, I can give my word that Robert’s Pizza Company is worth checking out.
